Job summary

The Center for Discovery seeks a Program Director to supervise the treatment program, facility, staff and clients in Granite Bay, CA. You will collaborate with leadership to ensure services align with the mission and values, while managing quality, staffing, and client care.

Responsibilities include leading treatment teams, staff development, utilization reviews, and community outreach, with on-site work M-F 9-5. Compensation ranges from $90,000 to $100,000 per year.

Qualifications

  • Masters or Doctorate in Addiction Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Current and valid LMFT, LMSW, PhD, PsyD, LPC, LCSW, MFTI or RD licensure or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in administration or management of mental health programs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the program to ensure quality and initiate quality improvement.
  • Supervise weekly Treatment Team Meetings for effective communication and team-based care.
  • Participate in staff interviews to assess qualifications and fit.
  • Provide bi-monthly in-service trainings to professional and counseling staff.
  • Develop and deliver in-service topics such as Diagnosis and Assessment, Group Therapy, Milieu Management, and Communication Skills.
  • Perform annual performance reviews with narratives highlighting strengths, weaknesses, and goals.
  • Assist in utilization reviews and ensure client stays are covered by insurance or private pay.
  • Ensure staffing coverage for all shifts and adjust to census changes.
  • Serve as a positive role model and maintain a professional attitude.
  • Maintain client caseload and provide individual and family therapy as appropriate.
  • Follow therapist job description duties and co-lead process groups as needed.
  • Support marketing plans and cultivate relationships with outpatient teams; conduct facility tours.
  • Provide on-call support with clinical staff and oversee when necessary.
  • Support Discovery in Recovery and Parent Support/Alumni Groups.
  • Maintain confidentiality of residents and activities.
  • May travel to other facilities for trainings.
  • Exercise supervision of all professional and counseling staff.
  • Obtain training and login for CHRIS and CONNECT (Virginia State Only).

Job description

Position Summary:

The Program Director (PD) is responsible for the supervision and management of the treatment program, facility, staff and clients. He/She consults with the Division Leader, Director of Operations and the Chief Executive Officer on an as needed basis to ensure services, program functioning and client treatment are being conducted in a manner consistent with the Discovery Behavioral Health mission statement and values.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Oversees all aspects of the program to ensure quality and initiates any quality improvement that may be necessary.
  • Supervise weekly Treatment Team Meetings to ensure consistent and effective communication between treatment team members; proper oversight of client development and progress and to ensure a team approach is utilized in the treatment of our clients.
  • Participate in the interview process in a collaborative fashion to determine the appropriateness and qualifications of prospective staff members.
  • Provide bi-monthly in-service trainings to all Professional and Counseling treatment staff.
  • Areas of development and in-service training include but are not limited to:
    • Diagnosis and Assessment
    • Group Therapy
    • Milieu Management
    • Communication Skills
  • Evaluate and apprise each member of the professional staff, completes a written narrative clearly identifying strengths, weaknesses, and goals for the coming year. These reviews are to be completed after the first three months of employment and yearly thereafter.
  • Contributes to effective teamwork by working independently with staff to combine their skills and energies in a focused manner in keeping with the Discovery Mission Statement.
  • Completes utilization reviews, oversees primary therapist process of utilization review and assists in the process of assuring that all client stays are covered in some way (i.e. insurance, private pay, etc.).
  • Works with staff and facility manager to arrange coverage of all shifts. Ensure that adequate staffing is provided for shifts. Adjust staffing to match census when necessary.
  • Serves as a positive role model to treatment staff, residents, employees, and guests by maintaining a positive, caring and professional attitude.
  • Maintains a client caseload as appropriate to census, assigns client cases based upon match with each therapist, provides individualized treatment for each case. Provides individual and family therapy.
  • Follows all duties outlined in the therapist job description.
  • Co-leading process group and/or any additional clinically oriented groups on an as needed basis. Provides oversight of all other groups conducted.
  • Participates in the marketing plan as requested. Maintaining collaborative relationships with outpatient treatment team professionals. Conducting facility tours for professionals in the community or families as necessary.
  • Providing on-call support in conjunction with clinical staff and providing ultimate oversight when necessary.
  • Participates in supporting Discovery in Recovery and/or Parent Support/Alumni Groups.
  • Maintains the confidential nature of resident and related activities.
  • May be required to travel to other facilities to attend trainings from time to time.
  • Exercise supervision of all professional and counseling treatment staff
  • Obtain training and a login for the state CHRIS and CONNECT systems (Virginia State Only)
Knowledge, Education, & Experience
  • Masters Degree or Doctorate preferred in Addiction Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field strongly preferred.
  • A current and valid LMFT or LMSW or PhD or PsyD or LPC or LCSW or MFTI or RD or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Two years’ experience in administration or management of mental health programs.

Employment Status: Full-Time

Schedule: M-F 9am-5pm

Work Location: Onsite- Granite Bay, CA

Compensation: Pay Range: $90,000 - $100,000 annually
