Jobdescription We are searching for a person with a passion for local radio to lead our on-air team.
Our business strategy revolves heavily around local content and getting involved in our local communities in Marion and Warren Counties in South Central Iowa.
Our program director is responsible for making sure that all of our local content runs as it should. You’ll have a daily on-air shift that includes voice tracking two stations, you’ll record commercial, update our inventory of sponsorships and station promos, create content for our website and social media channels, participate on our Severe Weather Action Team and whatever comes up that day in the fast-paced world of small-market local radio. If you’re passionate about news or sports, there are ways you can contribute in those areas as well.
We use Wide Orbit for our automation system, so an understanding of that platform would be a huge plus. Our Program Director must know it inside and out in order for us to operate smoothly. If you don’t know it, that’s okay, we’ll just expect you to dive in with a learning attitude. You’ll also need to learn our broadcast equipment in order to troubleshoot as problems arise and be the point person for getting things fixed.
You’ll work alongside our General Manager and Director of Content to oversee our on-air team. It’s not a typical 9-to-5 job – there will be odd hours and on call as needed to make sure that the station is running properly. You must live in or be willing to relocated to Knoxville for this position.
Starting pay if $48,000 annually but it is negotiable for the right candidate depending on what you bring to the table.
