Job summary

The Girl Scouts Council of Kentucky is seeking a session facilitator to run a six-week robotics and coding program at Meadowthorpe Elementary in Lexington. You will engage 2nd–3rd grade girls with hands-on activities aligned to Technology and Innovation badges.

Candidates should enjoy working with children, communicate well with the team, pass a background check, and participate in training. This is a one-time stipend opportunity.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to communicate clearly with students and program team.
  • Experience with after-school program delivery is helpful.
  • Ability to recruit, motivate, and engage diverse groups of children K–5th grade.
  • Strong customer service and professionalism expected.

Responsibilities

  • Lead weekly 1-hour robotics/coding sessions for six weeks at Meadowthorpe Elementary.
  • Deliver 2 Technology and Innovation badges across 6 weeks (1.5 hours per session).
  • Support girls in earning badges: Programming and Designing Robots.
  • Assess program impact and refine content as needed.

Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Lead a one-hour robotics and coding session each week for six weeks at a Fayette County elementary school (Meadowthorpe Elementary). Engage students in hands-on activities aligned with Girl Scouts Technology and Innovation badges. The facilitator must enjoy working with children, communicate effectively with the program team, complete a required background check, and be willing to participate in training. This is a one-time stipend opportunity.

  • Engage girls in grades 2nd - 3rd in Girl Scouts Technology and Innovative skill-building activities.
  • Deliver 2 Technology and Innovative badges at 1.5 hour intervals for 6 weeks / one day a week at Meadowthorpe Elementary.
  • Girls will earn 2 Girl Scout badges (Programming and Designing Robots)
  • Assess program impact and refine content.

Compensation: $500 One-Time Grant Stipend Payment

Timeline: October 14th - November 18th, 2026 (Wednesday only). Weekly tracking of hours. 2:30-4:0 0 PM.

  • Ensure absolute security and confidentiality of all Council records and maintain professionalism when handling sensitive information.

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • At least 21 years of age required.
  • College degree preferred. High school graduate required.
  • Experience in after-school program delivery helpful.
  • Superior customer service and people skills.
  • Ability to recruit, motivate, create excitement, and work well with diverse populations of children between K-5th grade. Ability to interact professionally with school administrators and the community.
  • Excellent judgment, with the ability to manage time, work independently, and handle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Maintain a high standard of professional appearance and behavior
Physical/Mental Essential Requirements:
  • Travel as the job requires.
  • Maintain valid driver's license with appropriate insurance.
  • Pass background and motor vehicle checks.
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, set up work-related supplies and/or equipment weighing at least 35 pounds.
  • Ability to stand on feet for a long period of time.
  • Full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
