  • Represent STEP at internal and external recruitment events.
  • Develop progress reports and presentations for STEP.
  • Assist in coordinating STEP Scientific Advisory Board meetings.
  • Provide referrals to ensure student completion and graduation.
  • Innovate on program design to meet contract milestones and outcomes.
  • Build and manage relationships with faculty and staff for program growth.
  • Provide administrative support and forecast/tracking of expenses.
  • Work a flexible schedule with required evening and weekend hours.

Job description

NYU Grossman School of Medicine offers a Program Coordinator role within the Office of Professional Development. The position focuses on communications and outreach for the Science Technology Entry Program (STEP) and general OPD activities.

Job Responsibilities

As the STEP Communications & Outreach Coordinator, you will:

  • Co‑supervise STEP program scholars (approx. 160) with mentorship, coaching, and professional development
  • Plan curricular activities such as SAT preparation courses, allied health workshops, and experiential learning opportunities
  • Maintain outreach and recruiting databases, listservs, and contact listings
  • Collect and analyze data on recruitment strategies and effectiveness
  • Coordinate student interviews and manage the application and selection process
  • Create education surveys to assess student and program outcomes
  • Track scholar records and monitor participant progress, including college placement and retention
  • Represent STEP at internal and external recruitment events
  • Develop progress reports and presentations for STEP
  • Assist in the coordination and execution of STEP Scientific Advisory Board meetings
  • Provide academic and non‑academic support or referrals to ensure student completion and graduation, including submitting letters of recommendation
  • Innovate on program design to meet contract milestones and outcomes
  • Build and manage relationships with faculty and staff to support program growth
  • Provide administrative support and collaborate on forecasting and tracking expenses
  • Work a flexible schedule with required evening and weekend hours
Communications Duties
  • Promote STEP and OPD internally and externally through social media, website, and other online platforms
  • Coordinate design of STEP and OPD materials with the Print Shop and distribute accordingly
  • Draft and copy‑edit communications as needed
  • Liaise with internal departments and external organizations as an OPD representative
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience in communications or marketing. Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, time‑management, and organizational skills. Classroom management experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Mac applications. Willingness to cultivate a learning environment and display sound judgment, professionalism, and conflict‑resolution skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Five years of equivalent experience in communications or marketing. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram), and marketing tools (e.g., JungleMail). 3–5 years of writing editorials or publications. Experience working with opportunity programs such as STEP, CSTEP, HEOP, or similar. This position is contingent upon grant funding.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this role is $61,288.35 – $67,567.50 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, education, and additional factors. The range does not include bonuses, differential pay, or other compensation.
