Job DescriptionHarborview - 6NJB Foot, Ankle and Hand Clinics has an outstanding opportunity for a Program Coordinator/Scheduler.WORK SCHEDULEFull-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week)Day Shift/Mondays- Fridays8:30am-5:00pmPOSITION/CAMPUS HIGHLIGHTSOnly Level I trauma and burn center in the regionClose proximity to public transportationHarborview ranks among the nation's top hospitals in rehabilitation care, neurology, neurosurgery and orthopedicsConvenient locationClose proximity to public transportationPRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBLITIESClinic Flow Activities:• Coordinate patient’s entry into and through the health care system as related to a patient’s disability claims• Coordinate and Complete all paperwork and correspondence requirements related to patients’ medically-required absence from work or medically-required work restrictions (i.e. required absence from work post surgery or work restrictions post surgery)• Coordinate patient care services and serve as the patient advocate being available to both patient and physician during clinic sessions• Facilitate delivery of efficient patient care with coordination of services with the patient medical visit• Create clinic-specific policies, procedures, or workflows and adjust as state/payor regulations evolvePatient Care Activities:• Interview patients to determine areas of concern and anticipated needs upon reappointments with physicians and outside agencies• Ensure the outcome of treatment recommendations for continued care is conveyed to outside consultants from the physiciansRevenue and Data Collection:• Complete the necessary forms and corresponding billing documentation• Collect and regularly report on statistics regarding volume of disability claims, types of disability claims, and corresponding revenue collected• Collect and regularly report on statistics regarding FMLA cases (i.e. medically-necessary absence from work due to surgery) o Budget Monitoring: correct L&I billing and reimbursement figures, monitoring patient spend down accountsCustomer Service and Team Behaviors:• Act as a resource and technical consultant to physicians, RNs, and others on the care team regarding disability claim needs• Compose Correspondence and record patient information in the chart• Timely Completion of disability and FMLA forms• May direct the work of othersWithin 6 months of hire a new HSC must also:• Participate in COHE training• Participate in an L&I orientation at L&I headquarters in Tumwater• Spend 4 to 8 hours shadowing an experienced HSC at another COHE• Obtain an L&I Provider Number in order to bill for his/her timeRequirementsHigh school graduation or equivalentAND two years of experience in the program specialtyOR equivalent education/experienceEquivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registrationDesired QualificationsOrthopedic knowledge preferredABOUT HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTERAs the region's only Level I Trauma and verified burn center, Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine.
