Job summary

Methuen Public Schools is seeking a Program Coordinator(s) for MPS Before & After-School and Summer Programs for grades K-8. The role coordinates after-school and summer activities, schedules staff, manages transportation, and collaborates with partners to implement curriculum and field trips.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree, experience with youth programs, strong organizational skills, attendance records, and the ability to work with families and school staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater required, strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience as an out-of-school-time coordinator preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills; attendance record important.
  • Working knowledge of K–8 curriculum frameworks or willingness to learn them.
  • Experience collaborating with educators and working with K–8 students, including at-risk students.
  • Experience supervising staff preferred; substitutions allowed for some qualifications.
  • CPR/First Aid preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of after-school and summer programs for K–8 students; develop curriculum, schedule staff, procure supplies, plan field trips.
  • Manage before/after-school and summer personnel, food services, and parent drop-off/pick-up.
  • Coordinate transportation arrangements for field trips when needed.
  • Meet with program manager to discuss program/student issues.
  • Maintain communications with parents, staff, and program manager; ensure excellent attendance.
  • Maintain required records and submit reports promptly.
  • Hold monthly site meetings; conduct/attend workshops as scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Program Manager.

Program Coordinator(s) for MPS Before and After-School and Summer Programs (Gr. K-8)

Position Type: Support Staff / Instructional Assistant

Title: Program Coordinator(s) for MPS Before & After-School and Summer Programs (Gr. K-8)

A-S Program hours: Mon. through Fri. 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (with additional hours/days noted below according to MPS school calendar); Additional hours may be required for before‑school coverage, planning, days noted below, and as needed by the Program Manager of Community Programs.

Summer Program hours: Varies between Mon. – Fri., 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Programs run through the school year, including open houses, program coordinator monthly meetings, professional development days, parent conference days, all other half days & delayed openings, winter and spring recesses, and summer. Hours not to exceed 29 hours/week on average and are subject to change.

Date of Opening: August 17, 2026

Availability of this position is contingent upon sufficient funding and enrollment.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree or greater; strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience as out‑of‑school‑time coordinator preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and record‑keeping skills and attendance record.
  • Working knowledge of curriculum frameworks for grades K‑8 or willingness to learn them.
  • Successful experience working collaboratively with others, preferably educators.
  • Successful experience working with K‑8 students, including at‑risk and struggling students.
  • Experience supervising staff preferred.
  • Outstanding preparation and/or experience may be substituted for some of the above qualifications.
  • CPR/First Aid preferred.
General Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all aspects of the after‑school & summer programs for K‑8 students, as required by the program manager/assistant manager, e.g., development of program curriculum, staff scheduling and evaluations, purchasing supplies and materials, and field trips, etc.
  • Manage before and after‑school & summer personnel, food services, & parent drop‑off and pick‑up.
  • Work with program partners and make transportation arrangements for field trips, if necessary.
  • Meet with the program manager &/or assistant program manager to discuss program/student issues.
  • Maintain communications with parents, program manager, assistant program manager, and staff regarding program and/or students; excellent attendance required.
  • Keep required records, timesheets, and submit reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Hold planning/monthly site meetings and submit notes of each to the program manager. Workshops are scheduled for Tuesday, November 3rd. Attendance is required.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Program Manager or their designee.
Salary

$28‑$38/hr.
