Job description

Position is responsible for providing administrative and technical support, including lighting, sound, and stage equipment, for the Production Arts section. This section services other city agencies as well as private rentals.

Established policies, procedures, and the Department of Parks and Recreation rules and regulations control actions. Independent judgment may occur during emergency situations and when dealing with the public. Work is reviewed continuously by a supervisor who provides detailed and general instructions. The position reports to the Senior Manager of Production Arts.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support planning, directing, and coordinating production arts programs and services.
  2. Assist with production operations such as ordering supplies, ticketing, and recording attendance.
  3. Help promote Indy Parks concerts and movies, including social media posting and community calendar updates.
  4. Collaborate with the Communications team to develop marketing and promotional plans for programs and events.
  5. Use social media platforms to highlight programs and services.
  6. Assist with customer service relations, including communication with the public and marketing efforts.
  7. Attend meetings or training sessions as required.
  8. Supervise the use of production supplies, equipment, and facilities.
  9. Set up and break down for scheduled activities, programs, and events.
  10. Enforce rules and regulations with park patrons during events and programs.
  11. Maintain cleanliness and appearance of equipment and work sites.
  12. Present a positive image of the department to the community.
  13. Maintain confidentiality at all times.

Minimum Job Requirements and Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of sound, lighting, and stage equipment and techniques. Understanding of electrical systems related to production equipment. Ability to plan, organize, and communicate effectively. Must be self-motivated and capable of working under general supervision. Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 80 pounds and work in varied weather conditions. Valid driver’s license required. Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification. Experience with sound, lighting, and stage equipment in a production setting. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

College degree is preferred.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in indoor and outdoor settings, often in varied physical environments and weather conditions, involving recreational or municipal service activities.

Physical Conditions
  1. Sitting at a desk for extended periods.
  2. Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects of light weight (5-10 pounds).
  3. Extended periods at a keyboard or workstation.
  4. Ability to perceive sounds and visual cues, and communicate orally.
