Job summary

Job description

Position is responsible for providing administrative and technical support, including lighting, sound, and stage equipment, for the Production Arts section. This section services other city agencies as well as private rentals.

Established policies, procedures, and the Department of Parks and Recreation rules and regulations control actions. Independent judgment may occur during emergency situations and when dealing with the public. Work is reviewed continuously by a supervisor who provides detailed or general instructions. The position reports to the Senior Manager of Production Arts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports planning, directing, and coordinating production arts programs and services.
  • Supports production operations, including ordering supplies, ticketing, and recording attendance figures.
  • Assists with promotions of Indy Parks concerts and movies, including social media posting and community calendar updates.
  • Works with the Communications team to develop and implement marketing and promotion plans for programs and events.
  • Utilizes social media platforms to highlight programs and services.
  • Assists with customer relations, including all communication with the public and marketing efforts.
  • Attends required meetings or training sessions.
  • Supervises the use of production supplies, equipment, and facilities.
  • Sets up and breaks down for scheduled activities, programs, and events.
  • Enforces rules and regulations with park patrons during events and programs.
  • Maintains cleanliness and the general appearance of equipment and work sites.
  • Presents a positive image of the department to the community.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.

Minimum Job Requirements and Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of sound, lighting, and stage equipment and techniques. Understanding of electrical systems related to production equipment. Ability to plan and organize activities. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and be self-motivated. Regularly lifts and carries equipment up to 80 pounds. Works in varied weather conditions. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification. Experience with production sound, lighting, and stage equipment is preferred. Candidate should be comfortable working in a diverse organization and committed to equity and inclusion.

Preferred Job Requirements and Qualifications

College degree preferred.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in indoor and outdoor settings throughout the department and community, involving various physical environments and weather conditions.

Physical Conditions

  1. Sitting at a desk for periods of time.
  2. Some lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects weighing 5-10 pounds.
  3. Extended periods at a keyboard or workstation.
  4. Ability to perceive sounds and see visual cues.
  5. Ability to communicate orally.
