Job summary

Seminole County Sheriff's Office seeks a Program Coordinator, Judicial (Corrections) to oversee clerical operations within the jail, review court minutes, and manage inmate court status.   • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Business or Public Administration or closely related field.
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in related work assignment.
  • Equivalent combination of related training, education, and experience.
  • Must obtain NCIC/FCIC certification within six months if deemed necessary for the work assignment.
  • Internal applicants must have completed Seminole County Sheriff's Office one year probationary period.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises staff assigned to the judicial team; reviews work for quality assurance and ensures adherence to SOPs.
  • Provides technical assistance to staff in performing duties and supports development of operating policies.
  • Receives and reviews court minutes for accuracy; contacts courts to correct errors or clarify documents.
  • Prepares and reviews weekly court lists for in-custody hearings; conducts staff briefings and disseminates information from memos and orders.
  • Performs duties of subordinate personnel when needed and maintains confidential information; communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Job description

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for the position of PROGRAM COORDINATOR, JUDICIAL (CORRECTIONS).

The Program Coordinator, Judicial, performs highly specialized clerical work within the correctional facility. Work involves overseeing the process of receiving, reviewing, and importing court minutes, coordinating the maintenance of inmate court status, performing administrative tasks, and supervising activities.

REFERENCE PROGRAM COORDINATOR VIA JOB DESCRIPTIONS

Supervises staff assigned to the judicial team. Reviews work for quality assurance purposes. Ensures subordinate awareness of standard operating policies and procedures. Provides technical assistance to staff in the performance of their duties.

Assists in the development and implementation of operating policies and procedures for the efficient and effective operations of the Judicial Team unit.

Receives and reviews court minutes for accuracy; contacts courts to correct errors or clarify vague or incomplete documents.

Receives and reviews court release orders; verifies that orders are valid, issued by the appropriate court, and not in conflict with orders from another court.

Prepares and reviews weekly court lists for in-custody court hearings.

Evaluates members assigned to the unit and prepares appropriate performance appraisals.

Conducts briefings with staff, to include the dissemination of information from memos, meetings, and orders pertaining to the section's operation and training.

Answers telephone calls from the public and provides routine information.

Participate in performing the actual work of the unit and substitute for subordinates as needed.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Business or Public Administration, or a closely related field
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in related work assignment
  • Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of related training, education, and experience
  • Must be NCIC/FCIC certified within six (6) months of employment if deemed necessary for the work assignment
  • Internal applicants must have completed the Seminole County Sheriff's Office one (1) year probationary period

REFERENCE PROGRAM COORDINATOR VIA JOB DESCRIPTIONS

Knowledge in the methods of compiling, organizing, and analyzing data of SCSO programs such as Café, JailWeb, Warrants, Documentum, and SCSOnet.

Ability to conduct searches and locate information through the Seminole County Clerk of Court, Florida Department of Corrections, Department of Highway and Safety, and Motor Vehicles, and State Attorney's Office databases.

Ability to run and review criminal histories via eAgent.

Must be able to perform all the duties of subordinate personnel.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; to research information; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other Sheriff's Office staff members, and outside agencies; to maintain confidential information; to work independently and with little supervision.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The working environment is primarily in a jail environment where proper provisions are in place in terms of employee security and protection. Work is generally performed in a sedentary position. The position generally works normal business hours. This position has limited inmate contact.
