Job description

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for the position of ARMORY COORDINATOR, PART-TIME.

The Armory Coordinator is responsible for operating, managing, and controlling the armory.

REQUIRED DOCUMENT

  • Conduct annual Inventory of all weapons, with the exception of Taser
  • Conduct periodic and partial inventory of weapons as requested by the Captain of the Professional Development Division
  • Issue firearms to new members of the agency
  • Assist the Academy staff with issuing firearms prior to, and at the conclusion of, academy firearms training
  • Coordinate with the Field Training Sergeant(s) the issuance of weapons at the conclusion of the Academy and prior to the start of the Field Training Program
  • Enter new weapons and/or update existing entries into the TYLER Inventory System
  • Conduct routine checks of the PTO lockers. Inspect and conduct any routine maintenance on weapons left in the lockers due to PTO or military leave
  • Inspection and repair of agency weapons
  • Act as a liaison with the Range Master in reference to proper inventory of ammunition and related supplies
  • Inspect the armory periodically for proper cleaning, maintenance, and state of repair
  • Maintain armory records
  • Order and maintain armory supplies
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or required
  • Associate's Degree; Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Minimum of (2) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of weapons and armory equipment
  • Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of related training, education and experience
  • Applicant must be able to work independently
  • Internal applicants must have completed the Seminole County Sheriff's Office one (1) year probationary period
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License

Regular and prompt attendance is mandatory in the performance of an employee's duties for this position, to include scheduled work hours, required training activities, calls for mandatory overtime needs, and calls for service during times of an emergency.

Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures used in armory operations. Extensive knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work, methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in armory operations. Knowledge of armories and maintenance practices.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.

Ability to work independently in carrying out assignments to completion. Ability to make decisions based on factual data. Ability to work with detailed information. Ability to effectively use computer skills to develop and maintain spreadsheets and prepare written communications.

Thorough knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and modern office practices and procedures. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Skill in the use of computers and other equipment used to perform the daily functions of the position.

Ability to maintain detailed, accurate records and effective filing systems. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with Departments/Divisions and outside agencies.

Requires attention to detail, an ability to prioritize, and work with minimal supervision.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The work environment is generally in an office atmosphere, although the incumbent will be required to perform audits in other work areas of the Sheriff's Office.

Mobility-Mostly sedentary work but some standing and walking; constant use of a computer; May be required to drive an agency vehicle

Emotional/Psychological- Frequent public contact; decision-making and concentration

Special Requirements- Ability to behave respectably and with utmost integrity even when off duty. May be required to respond for any critical incident, manmade or natural. Some assignments may require working weekends, nights, and/or occasional overtime.
