Qualifications

  • Knowledge of materials and components used in fuel systems; proper cutting, fitting, and installation techniques.
  • Experience maintaining dispensing systems for motor gas and diesel fuels.
  • Ability to work with little supervision and as part of a team; lift up to 80 lbs; obtain Secret clearance.

Job Description - Program Coordinator I - Liquid Fuels Distribution Systems (260004FP)

The Massachusetts Military Division is searching for an experienced professional to monitor, maintain, and repair liquid fuels distribution systems at Barnes Air National Guard Base in Westfield, Massachusetts. The Program Coordinator I works under the supervision of the base Facilities Manager, Civil Engineer, and Deputy Civil Engineer.

This position is responsible for the maintenance and installation of fuel storage and distribution systems as well as advising in developing repair and maintenance projects. An ideal candidate would have knowledge of and experience with the maintenance and repair of liquid fuel systems and hazardous fuel products as well as the ability to interpret relevant blueprints and schematics.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Installs, repairs, and maintains fuel storage, distribution, and dispensing systems. Manages and modifies liquid fuel systems and components. Maintain liquid fuel storing, distributing, and dispensing. Performs maintenance on liquid fuel systems used for storing above and below ground tanks. Dispensing conventional fuels such as heating oil, gasoline and jet petroleum. Performs alterations of liquid fuel facilities to eliminate defects in design on construction. Performs recurring maintenance and seasonal overhaul on systems and components.

Performs recurring maintenance and seasonal overhaul on systems and components. Inspects systems for leaking, corroding, faulty fittings, and inoperative components. Inspects for condition and operation of electrical units such as switches, starters, contactors, wiring, and fuse boxes. Inspects component parts such as pipe fittings, valves, pumps, filters separators, filters, meters, pressure gauges, and tanks. Checks for noise or vibration indicating trouble in motor or misalignment of pump rotor or shafts. Checks components for operation, and adjustments pressures, and internal and external leaks under pressure. Checks equipment for serviceability before installation. Repairs, replaces, and adjusts faulty system components. Cleans and repairs fuel strainers and replaces filter elements. Lubricates systems components.

Advises on problems installing and repairing liquid fuel storage. Advises operation and maintenance superintendent on problems installing and repairing of liquid fuel storage, distribution, and dispensing equipment and systems. Solves complex maintenance problems by studying layout drawings, wiring and schematic drawings. Develops and establishes operation and maintenance procedures to ensure maximum efficiency. Work with DLA on funding and performing maintenance projects.

Backflow Program Manager: Responsible for compliance with Commonwealth of Massachusetts Safe Drinking Water Regulation 310CMR 22.22 as well as all applicable Air Force regulations pertaining to safe drinking water. Performs inspections, tests, and repairs on all backflow preventers. Performs cross-connection surveys on buildings base wide to ensure there are no unauthorized connections to potable water system. Reviews drawings and ensures/advises on proper device and installation. Mass. Cross Connection Tester/Surveyor license required.

Cathodic Protection Tester; Responsible for testing of cathodically protected structures to ensure proper readings/protection as outlined in UFC 3-570-6 Cathodic Protection Systems are maintained. Ensure proper documentation is maintained, also advise on updates/upgrades to systems which are non - compliant and require modification.

Utilize electronic systems to manage and document work completed. Order and manage on-hand replacement parts. Document work orders and preventative maintenance tasks in directed digital systems.

Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications
DESIRED AND ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge is mandatory of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical principles that apply to maintenance and repair of liquid fuel systems

Knowledge of emergency first aid; physiological effects, characteristics, and hazards of liquid fuel products

Understanding of use and interpretation of wiring and schematic diagrams, blueprints and technical publications; operation and repair of liquid fuel systems

Knowledge of sizes and use of materials and components; techniques of cutting and fitting pipes and installing and repairing equipment.

Experience in maintaining dispensing system for motor gas and diesel fuel

Experience and knowledge in maintaining fuel systems that dispense jet fuel

Ability to work with little or no supervision

Ability to work well with coworkers and supervisors

Ability to interpret and carry out oral and written instructions

Ability to maintain files and records (paper and/or digital)

Ability to work in indoor and outdoor settings and potentially in severe weather

Must be able to lift 80 lbs. and heavy objects

Must be able to acquire a Secret security clearance

Must be free from fear of heights
