Summary:
The University of Illinois Springfield invites applications for a program coordinator to administer efficient operation of the Graduate Assistantship Office and Graduate Assistantship Program, provide leadership for graduate education projects/initiatives, oversee the Office of the Vice Provost and Director of Graduate Education, and coordinate GA professional development programming. Responsibilities require exercising critical thinking, acting with discretion, and making independent judgments.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree.
2. A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
3. Additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization
Specialty Factors:
A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in administration (responsibility for day-to-day operation/oversight/coordination of a unit, program, system, process, or function).
Two (2) additional years (24 months) of work experience in areas related to the responsibilities of the position, such as higher education, human resources, or program coordination.
An additional one (1) years (12 months) of work experience that included the use of electronic tracking, reporting, transaction processing, decision support, or form generation systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree
Work experience in an academic administrative setting.
Experience with web editing
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to recognize confidential communications, records, and documents and to exercise sound judgment in safeguarding sensitive information in accordance with applicable policies and expectations.
Professional demeanor that enables effective communication and relationship building across a diverse group of stakeholders, including administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
Awareness of accessibility compliance requirements for events, communications, and materials.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (or similar software), including the ability to learn new systems quickly and use them to gather information and run reports (e.g., Banner or similar information systems).
Skill in analyzing information, exercising judgment, and evaluating options to choose appropriate solutions and resolve problems.
Skill in planning and coordinating schedules, events, programs, and activities, including setting goals and priorities to organize and accomplish work.
Ability to develop and improve guidelines, procedures, and administrative systems.
Ability to plan, delegate, and supervise the work of others, including coordinating people and resources to meet objectives.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning and resource allocation.
