Job summary

NC State University’s TRIO Programs seeks a dedicated coordinator to support student advising, academic planning, and engagement activities across Talent Search initiatives. You will help students access resources, navigate college applications, and connect families with campus services.

The role requires strong organizational skills, experience with education programs, and ability to travel on occasion. You will work with diverse students and collaborate with on-campus partners to promote

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Science or equivalent field plus relevant professional training and/or experience.
  • Experience in academic skill development, counseling and working with a variety of students.
  • Database software proficiency.
  • Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office Word, Publisher and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient knowledge in utilizing social media technology as a professional tool.
  • Ability to work independently, handle ambiguity, manage multiple projects, schedules and deadlines, as well as possess good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to network with on campus constituents, targeted community members, and public school personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide program resources and services to ensure personal, vocational, and educational success
  • Provide academic assistance to specified students in caseload
  • Identify academic needs for each participant and address those needs
  • Assist participants with the college application and financial aid process
  • Coordinate and support academic programming for both Talent Search programs
  • Ensure accuracy of each student’s academic progress
  • Plan educational and personal growth activities for participants
  • Coordinate activities to expose students to future career opportunities
  • Visit all schools within assigned caseload
  • Recruit program participants within target schools
  • Maintain student’s academic records and files securely
  • Assist with summer personnel hiring process (interviews, hiring decisions)
  • Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities
  • Ability to travel
  • Work extended week day hours and weekends occasionally, approximately once a month

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
  • Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor's degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience may be substituted for the advanced degree on an exceptional basis.
Other Required Qualifications
