Why Join First Tee – Virginia Blue Ridge:

  • Directly impact the lives of young people through mission-centered programming.
  • Help shape player development in a growing golf facility.
  • Support for PGA education, dues reimbursement, and professional development.
  • Collaborative, purpose-driven culture focused on innovation and growth.
Experience Required
  • Passion for mentoring youth through the game of golf.
  • Commitment to being a positive role model and mentor for youth participants.
  • Understanding of golf fundamentals and a desire to continue developing skills in coaching, instruction, and player development.
  • Previous coaching, instruction, youth programming, leadership, or customer service experience preferred.
  • PGA Associate status, First Tee Coach Certification, or interest in pursuing golf industry credentials preferred.
  • Familiarity with First Tee or similar youth development programs is a plus.
  • Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills.
  • Comfortable learning registration software, simulator technology, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Availability for afternoons, evenings, weekends, and occasional off‑site programming.

Programming & Participant Development

  • Create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment that encourages confidence, skill development, sportsmanship, and character growth.
  • Manage assigned class operations, including attendance, check‑in, equipment, lesson preparation, participant records, and safety.
  • Support participant progression and engagement through quality instruction, effective communication, and helping participants and families understand continued opportunities within the First Tee pathway.
  • Assist with volunteer training, onboarding, and coach development initiatives to support consistent, high-quality First Tee programming and participant experiences.

  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming facility environment.
  • Monitor simulator use and provide basic technical assistance and customer support to participants and families.
  • Assist with merchandise, light retail responsibilities, and facility setup.
