The Recreation Programs Coordinator supports the development, coordination, and administration of recreational programs, community events, and facility operations. The position ensures programs are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with departmental standards and performs other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Recreation.
This is a full‑time position covered by Civil Service. The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all‑inclusive. Other duties may be required or assigned. Applicants should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Work schedule: Monday through Friday (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) with night and weekend work when special events are taking place or scheduled by the Director.
Develop working relationships and communicate with national, state, and local organizations and departments while participating in recreation‑related functions and activities.
Work and act as a team player in all interactions with other County employees, provide a high level of customer service at all times, project, and maintain a positive image with those contacted in the course of work, and consistently provide quality service.
Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Training and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of one to three years of experience in all phases of recreation and/or program operations – OR – any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Special Requirements:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver’s license. Ability to drive and operate the department’s assigned vehicles and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Once employed, must attend the first Non‑Security Detail Class offered for training on inmate transport; must attend the annual renewal course for this training.
Physical Qualifications:
Physically able to operate a variety of departmental equipment and tools. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. Must be able to exert up to fifty (50) pounds of force occasionally and up to thirty (30) pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for active/medium work. Must be able to lift and carry weight of thirty (30) pounds.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
Required Release: Employee must consent to a criminal/driver history release prior to being considered.
