Position Summary

The Program Coordinator in the Office for Student Success and Achievement (OSSA), a unit of Instruction, plays a pivotal role in planning, coordinating, and delivering programs that support student success.

Reporting to the Assistant Director and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, the Program Coordinator will serve as a key contributor to scholar support initiatives, the Thrive at Georgia: Bulldog Bridge program, and first-generation student success efforts. This position also provides supervision to student staff, contributes to strategic outreach, and supports office-wide initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies

  • Understanding of student development theory, academic coaching, holistic student support, and student success, with demonstrated experience implementing student-focused programs and workshops.
  • Awareness of the unique needs of different student populations, and the ability to plan and deliver responsive programming that enhances their academic and personal success.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to coordinate logistics, manage budgets, and execute events and programs with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and digital communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with various student populations and campus stakeholders.
  • Experience recruiting, training, supervising, and mentoring student staff, including providing constructive feedback and supporting their professional development.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and report data to evaluate program effectiveness and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Comfortable using campus systems, digital communication tools, social media platforms, and basic design or web content tools to support programming and outreach.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities.

Physical Demands

  • Drive and travel to attend events, meetings, and outreach activities held both on and off campus.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment and materials for programs and events conducted on and off campus.
  • Remain seated at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds, such as boxes of promotional materials.

  • Provide individualized and group meetings to assigned scholar cohorts using an academic coaching approach that supports holistic student development.
  • Plan and implement student programs and workshops that promote academic success, leadership development, community engagement, and awareness of campus resources.
  • Communicate and advise scholars on experiential learning opportunities, and coordinate with campus partners to integrate these experiences into academic planning.

  • Coordinate the promotion, planning, programming, and implementation of Thrive at Georgia: Bulldog Bridge for incoming first-year students that promote academic success, leadership development, community engagement, and awareness of campus resources.
  • Communicate programmatic support throughout their first year and continuing through graduation.

Percentage of time 25 Duties/Responsibilities

First-Generation and Initiatives

  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of programs that support first-generation students, addressing their unique needs and fostering academic success. This includes key initiatives such as the National First-Generation College Celebration, First-Generation Graduation, and assisting with the first-generation newsletter, outreach, websites, and digital content.
  • Participate in outreach and recruitment efforts for first-generation programs and events.

Supervision

  • Recruit, onboard, and supervise graduate and undergraduate student staff to support scholar programs, Thrive at Georgia: Bulldog Bridge, and first-generation student initiatives.
  • Provide ongoing mentorship, performance assessment, and guidance to ensure effective team performance and program outcomes.

Outreach, Strategic Support, and Professional Development

  • Support the promotion, planning, programming, and implementation of ALL Georgia.
  • Participate in OSSA, UGA, and external committees and events, as well as OSSA outreach, to promote student success.
  • Participate in professional development workshops and conferences to stay informed about student success research, emerging trends, and best practices.
  • Develop communication and marketing materials in consultation with the Senior Communications Coordinator.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver timely, relevant programming aligned with scholar needs and institutional priorities, fostering a cohesive support system for students.
  • Manage program budgets by preparing and submitting financial documents, including payment and purchase requests, reimbursements, and expense reports.
  • Coordinate logistics for program activities by scheduling meetings, reserving rooms, ordering food, purchasing promotional materials, and managing assigned email accounts.
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness, create reports, and inform ongoing improvement and strategic decision-making.
  • Serve as co-adviser to student groups as needed.
  • Assist with new work projects as assigned by the assistant director or director.
