Job summary

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Budgets with a direct relationship with the Chief Program Officer, the Program Budget Coordinator will have a critical set of responsibilities related to program financial management, reporting and analysis. The individual in this position will have a key role in ensuring the financial stability and transparency of our programs by analyzing, producing, and maintaining agency and program budgets. The Program Budget Coordinator will research and prepare financial information for reports and presentations as required. The individual should work independently with minimal supervision, in an accurate and timely manner, use discretion in handling confidential information, and have attention to detail. The Program Budget Coordinator will be an active listener and respond by exhibiting cross-cultural awareness with the ability to promote and contribute to an equitable and inclusive anti-racist organizational culture and environment.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions
  • Collaborate with program management to develop annual and multi-year comprehensive budgets for each program. This includes forecasting expenses, revenue, and other financial projections.
  • Work with program management to review and analyze expenditure patterns and trends to determine potential for reallocation, realignment, or adjustments to accomplish programmatic, financial reporting, and compliance requirements. Conduct on-site quarterly budget reviews with program management.
  • Interacts with fiscal and program staff to ensure accurate recording and billing of program expenses. Work with state and city reporting systems to ensure compliance with funders' financial and system requirements.
  • Work with Program, Development and Housing Development departments to prepare budgets and input budgets in funder websites as needed for new initiatives and funder requests.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned and required.
Qualifications, Education And Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, financial management, accounting, or related field, preferred.
  • At least 2 to 3 years of experience in a social service non-profit setting with state and city funding streams involving analytical research and reporting financial data.
  • Accounting & Budgeting: Principles and best practices including internal controls, variance determination, fiscal compliance, developing plans and budgets; comparing and analyzing budget against actual activity.
  • Applied mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Functional experience with accounting software, such as Financial Edge or Sage Intacct, required.
  • Functional experience with Microsoft Suite; Excel, Word, PowerPoint; creating Pivot Tables and other reports.
