About this Role
  • The Career Pathways program associate will play a critical role in supporting Heights and partners. The program associate will work closely with the Director of Career Pathways and Heights staff to administer school year and summer Career programming, including internship and enrichment opportunities. The associate will support the Law and Justice Mentorship Program, programming for students not on track for college, and other career-related initiatives.
  • The Law and Justice Mentorship Program (LJMP) is a pipeline initiative that connects high school students of color, historically underrepresented in the legal profession, with critical pre-law opportunities and mentorship. This role provides essential administrative, logistical, and student-facing support. In the fall, efforts focus primarily on participant recruitment; in the spring, the focus shifts to program logistics, executing 6 days of in-person programming and having everything in place for summer internships.
  • Primary Partners: Heights Philadelphia, School District of Philadelphia, and partner law firms.
Key Responsibilities
  • Program Logistics & Recruitment
  • Lead fall recruitment efforts by distributing promotional materials across select partner high schools, managing student communications, and tracking application submissions and statuses.
  • Coordinate spring program execution, including scheduling, venue setup, and vendor/partner coordination for four days of in-person programming.
  • Organize, collect, and manage essential program documentation, including student paperwork, release forms, and participant records.
  • Facilitate workshops, discussions, and interactive skill-building sessions to support career, workforce readiness, and pre-law learning and development.
  • Offer direct guidance and coaching, sharing insights into the legal profession to foster a supportive learning environment.
  • Assist LJMP and other career pathway program students with crafting and finalizing a professional resume, primarily using Heights-provided templates.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for student participants to ensure a positive, enriching program experience.
  • Collaborate with students, partner law firms, the School District of Philadelphia, and Heights Philadelphia.
  • Support ongoing outreach to school administrators, faculty, and prospective student candidates.
  • Attend partner meetings to confirm program logistics, align on goals, and maintain open communication channels.
  • Data Management & Administration
  • Input and maintain accurate student data, attendance, and progress records in Salesforce according to Heights Philadelphia standards.
  • Collaborate with internal staff and external partners to streamline day-to-day operations and program execution.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions to maintain alignment with organizational goals and objectives
About you
  • Passionate about mentoring young people in the field of law and supporting historically marginalized students, especially first-generation-to-college and lower-income students, in pathways to the field of law.
  • Undergraduate or graduate student with at least one year of experience working with youth; experience in the field of law is beneficial, but not required.
  • Organized and adept at multi-tasking.
  • Skilled in creating and maintaining detailed record-keeping systems.
  • Able to navigate Heights’ data and reporting systems; experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems preferred.
  • Experienced at fostering collaborative relationships between multiple partner organizations (law firms, School District of Philadelphia, schools, etc.).
  • Demonstrated growth mindset, openness to feedback, and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Must meet expectations to report in-person on a schedule determined by their direct manager and/or the Vice President of the team.
  • Must meet PA State background check requirements [PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprint Check] at hire and every five years thereafter.
  • Strong orientation to customer service, particularly with regard to students, partners and colleagues
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office and related applications, as well as use of general office equipment (phones, computers, copiers, etc)
  • Fluency in the use of data and data systems. Maintains appropriate engagement with data entry, reporting and review.
  • Must be able to work in a busy, often complex work environment that is generally climate controlled.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Access to reliable transportation required
