Job summary

The Colorado Department of Natural Resources is seeking a technically capable administrative professional to support the Division Engineer and engineering staff. You will research water rights law, track applications, and manage payments and budget related tasks.

This in-office role emphasizes customer service, office management, and coordination across HR and payroll functions, with potential for occasional remote work after training.

Qualifications

  • Preferred qualifications include state experience relevant to the position.
  • Knowledge and experience with Colorado water rights administration.
  • Experience providing excellent customer service.
  • Office management experience.
  • Budget experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical and administrative support to Division Engineer and engineering staff by researching Colorado statutory law and checking accuracy of water rights applications.
  • Tracks water rights applications through phases to final decree and maintains electronic filing for water court cases.
  • Performs allocation, reconciliation and data entry in CORE to initiate payments.
  • Assures adherence to Fiscal and Purchasing Rules and agency policies while assisting with budget tracking.
  • Serves as the public's main contact for general questions about Colorado water law, well permits, and related matters.
  • Tracks mileage of vehicles and coordinates repairs and replacements.
  • Provides liaison between HR, Payroll, and State Engineer’s Office on personnel and retirement processes.
  • Oversees, orders and maintains office supplies and equipment maintenance.
