Job summary

The Board of Water Supply is seeking an experienced operator to manage islandwide pumping stations and related equipment from the control center on an assigned shift. Telemetry and supervisory controls will be used to operate electrically powered pumping equipment and distribution systems.

Applicants should have demonstrated knowledge of pumping plant operation, electrical and hydraulic fundamentals, safety procedures, and the ability to read meters, record readings, and maintain operational

  • EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to competently perform journey level skills and duties of this position, or equivalent competence in operation of pumping plant equipment; read meters and gauges; record readings; follow oral and written instructions; and work with dexterity and safety.

Position Information

Operates, through telemetering and supervisory controls from the control center for the islandwide water system, electrically-operated water pumping stations, auxiliary equipment and distribution system equipment on an assigned shift; and performs other related duties as required.

There is one vacancy with the Board of Water Supply, Plant Operations Division. This list may be used for future vacancies in this and/or other departments.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to competently perform the journey level skills and duties of this position, or which show equivalent competence in the operation of pumping plant, power plant, marine engine room or related industrial-type equipment. Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of practices and procedures used in the operation of pumping plant equipment; types and functions of machinery and equipment used in a pumping station; principles and practices of elementary electricity and hydraulics; occupational hazards and safety precautions; and the ability to operate electrical pumping units, auxiliary equipment and distribution system equipment; read meters and gauges, record readings and prepare and keep operational records; understand and follow oral and written instructions; and work with dexterity and safety. License Requirement: pd states Type 3 license

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE EVALUATION: In addition to meeting the above minimum qualifications, your application will be further evaluated. Your score will be based on the quality, quantity, and/or recency of your training and experience.
