Job summary

The Salvation Army in Michigan Midland is seeking a Program Assistant to support the Director of Social Services and Community Program Coordinator in implementing and supervising community center programs for children and adults.

You will help run activities such as showers, laundry and kitchen services, ensure safety, maintain order, open/close the center, and assist in safeguarding equipment, while building relationships with families.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent
• Experience leading social service programs preferred
• Must be at least 18 years old

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing, conducting and supervising Community Center programs.
• Build relationships with parents and children participating in these programs.
• Enforces facility safety regulations and emergency procedures.
• Maintain order in the Community Center by enforcing conduct and use of equipment and facilities.
• May be responsible for opening and closing the community center.
• Help safeguard all equipment and supplies including tables, chairs, washer, dryer, etc.
• Responsible for regular cleaning and maintaining the facility when used for programming.
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Assist community center programming in implementing, conducting and supervising programs which would include Community Kitchen, showers, laundry and other community services.
• Assist in building relationships with parents and children that participate in these programs.

• Maintain order in the Community Center by enforcing rule relating to conduct and the use of equipment and facilities.
• May be responsible for opening and closing the community center.
• Help to safeguard all equipment and supplies including tables, chairs, washer, dryer, etc.
• Responsible for regular cleaning and maintaining the facility when used for programming.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

• Minimum of High School diploma/GED desired, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Training and/or education experience in leading social service programs preferred
• Must be at least 18 years old

Certificates and Licenses:

• Ability to obtain and maintain training and certifications such as First Aid, CPR, and Blood Pathogen
• Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
