Job summary

The Salvation Army in Ann Arbor is seeking a Program Assistant to support community center programs for children and adults, helping deliver services that promote emotional, physical and spiritual well‑being.

You will assist in running programs like community kitchen, showers and laundry, supervise activities, enforce safety, and help maintain a welcoming, orderly center for participants and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in leading social service programs preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Assist community center programming in implementing, conducting and supervising programs such as Community Kitchen, showers, laundry and other services.
• Assist in building relationships with parents and children participating in these programs.
• Enforce facility safety regulations and emergency procedures.
• Maintain order in the Community Center by enforcing conduct rules and proper use of equipment.
• May be responsible for opening and closing the community center.
• Safeguard equipment and supplies including tables, chairs, washer and dryer.
• Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of the facility when used for programming.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• May be responsible for opening and closing the community center.
• Help to safeguard all equipment and supplies including tables, chairs, washer, dryer, etc.
• Responsible for regular cleaning and maintaining the facility when used for programming.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

• Minimum of High School diploma/GED desired, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Training and/or education experience in leading social service programs preferred
• Must be at least 18 years old

Certificates and Licenses:

• Ability to obtain and maintain training and certifications such as First Aid, CPR, and Blood Pathogen
• Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
