*This position will require occasional travel to project locations within North Carolina.* This Program Analyst I position is responsible for project management for technical and program development activities of the Brownfields Redevelopment Section on brownfield projects. This position encompasses all areas of DWM, some other Divisions and crosses over to EPA. A Brownfields Project Manager in this position must possess the ability to comprehend geology, chemistry, engineering, environmental science, vapor intrusion issues, sustainability practices, as well as evaluating and implementing safety measures. This Program Analyst I must possess the wherewithal to convey those measures to the public, developers, consultants, legal counsel, and future occupants of redeveloped brownfield properties. This position will also provide technical expertise for all assessment and mitigation measures under this program. This Program Analyst I must ensure compliance with the Brownfield Property Reuse Act of 1997 and all other State and Federal environmental regulations to ensure the application of sound technical practices and the protection of the environment and public health on brownfield properties.
Recruitment Range: $60,881 - $63,816

The Division of Waste Management is responsible for protecting the public health and environment through assuring that solid and hazardous waste and underground storage tanks are managed properly, and existing contamination is cleaned up across the State of North Carolina. This is accomplished through the Hazardous Waste, Solid Waste, Superfund and Underground Storage Tank Sections, and the Brownfields Redevelopment Section.
