Program Advisor and Student Support Specialist

Job Summary

The Program Advisor and Student Services Specialist is a fully competent and productive professional contributor for the Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation and coordinates and executes cross-campus student recruiting, academic advising, student services, and academic affairs at Purdue’s Indianapolis location, reporting to the Assistant Director in Indianapolis. The individual will work on-site with students and academic units to generate program awareness, and communicate opportunities, requirements, curriculum, course selection, and planning. They will work closely with the West Lafayette Director and staff on initiatives related to program growth and administration, including recruiting, retention, coordination with advisors, and administrative offices including the Registrar, Dean of Students, and Space Management.

This is a regular, continuing Academic Year (9-month) appointment designed to align directly with the university’s active academic calendar. You will work full-time while school is in session (typically mid-August through mid-May) with potential for nominal summer work (and associated pay)

Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:

• Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to the position
• Two years of experience relevant to this position.
• In lieu of a degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience; Associate's + 4 years' experience or HS/GED + 6 years of experience.

• Knowledge of university policies and procedures
• Excellent customer service skills and professionalism in dealing with alumni, students, faculty and staff
• Exceptional communication (oral/written) and interpersonal skills working in a with the ability to work in a team environment as well as influence and build working relationships among diverse stakeholders
• Strong organizational and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently to problem-solve, utilize campus resources, and handle confidential information with discretion, and take initiative as needed
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and administer academic policy as necessary
• Strong proficiency in software: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
• Excellent time management, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule; including occasional evenings and weekends to attend events

Nice to Have:

• Degrees: Education, Business, Communication, Engineering, Science. Experience advising students/student services in a higher education setting.

The anticipated annual salary for this Academic Year (9 month) position is approximately $45,000 with a potential addition of $5,000 over the summer. The final salary offer will be determined based on factors including relevant experience, internal equity, and available budget.
