SCAD is seeking a fashion professor to guide students toward creative careers within a professional classroom environment. You will help them master markets, technologies, and trends to lead in the fashion world.

You will collaborate with industry brands and deliver engaging instruction, assessments, and campus events while maintaining high professional standards. This role involves teaching, grading, and ongoing program evaluation.

Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in fashion or a relevant field.
  • Academic and professional credentials to teach in fashion.
  • Two years of work experience in a related profession or post-secondary teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare for teaching.
  • Maintain an active and engaged classroom environment.
  • Syllabus design, submission, and approval.
  • Hold office hours and midterm grade reviews to provide feedback to students.
  • Provide students with extra help sessions, extended learning opportunities, and field trips.
  • Conduct course- and program-level assessments.
  • Model professionalism.
  • Fulfill grading and academic documentation requirements.
  • Record attendance.
  • Follow academic policies and regulations and support academic assessment and institutional effectiveness efforts.
  • Attend on-ground and virtual events including faculty councils, admission events, curriculum assessment and development, institutional effectiveness and accreditation support, exhibitions or other publicity assignments.

Job description

As a fashion professor, you'll join a team of professionals who are well-versed in every aspect of the industry — and have collaborated with renowned brands from Alexander McQueen and Calvin Klein to Saks Fifth Avenue and more. You'll prepare talented students for creative careers in a professional, positive, and engaging classroom environment, guiding them to master new markets, technologies, and trends to become leaders in the world of fashion.

As a professor, you’ll:
  • Plan and prepare for teaching
  • Maintain an active and engaged classroom environment
  • Syllabus design, submission, and approval
  • Hold office hours and midterm grade reviews to provide feedback to students
  • Provide students with extra help sessions, extended learning opportunities, and field trips
To support the university’s mission of preparing talented students for creative professions through engaged teaching and learning in a positively oriented university environment, you’ll:
  • Conduct course- and program-level assessments
  • Model professionalism
  • Fulfill grading and academic documentation requirements
  • Record attendance
  • Follow academic policies and regulations and support academic assessment and institutional effectiveness efforts
Additionally, you’ll attend on-ground and virtual events including:
  • Faculty councils
  • Admission events
  • Curriculum assessment and development
  • Institutional effectiveness and accreditation support
  • Exhibitions or other publicity assignments
Minimum qualifications:
  • Terminal degree in fashion or a relevant field
  • Academic and professional credentials to teach in fashion

Travel required:
  • Less than 10%
