The Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering ( ECEN ) serves as the academic leader and chief administrative officer of the department. Reporting to the Dean of the College of Engineering, the Chair leads faculty and staff to advance the department’s research, teaching, ABET accreditation, and service missions. Key responsibilities include strategic budget management, faculty recruitment and mentoring, curriculum advancement, and cultivation of corporate, donor, and alumni partnerships. The Chair fosters an environment of research excellence aligned with strategic college clusters while ensuring graduate competitiveness.
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is a public land-grant, high research activity university enrolling 15,275 students. The College of Engineering, with approximately 2,700 students, offers EAC ABET -accredited undergraduate programs, 9 Master’s programs, and 6 Doctoral programs. The COE’s 5 core research clusters are Autonomous Systems, Cybersecurity and Resilience, Energy and Sustainability, Healthcare Applications, and Complex Systems and Networks. The department is supported by five permanent full-time professional staff and 21 full-time faculty members.
