Job summary

Alliant Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Professional Transportation Engineer to lead the design of major highway projects.

You will design roadway geometry, perform design calculations, and prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates while guiding a team of graduate engineers and technicians. You will resolve design issues with proactive and innovative solutions, review work according to Alliant's Design Quality Management Plan, and engage in professional development to grow your client

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer required.
• 4+ years of highway design experience.
• Strong working knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; must work well in a team.
• Technical expertise using MicroStation and GEOPAK on transportation projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of major transportation projects including roadway geometry, design calculations, and plans/specs/cess estimates.
• Manage a team of graduate engineers and technicians to deliver projects.
• Resolve design issues with proactive, innovative solutions and ensure adherence to the Design Quality Management Plan.
• Engage in professional development to grow client networks and business opportunities.
• Assist with preparation of work scopes, budgets, and project schedules.

The Impact You'll Have:

As a Professional Transportation Engineer for Alliant, you will play a lead role in the design of major Transportation projects. Utilize your technical expertise to design roadway geometry, compute design calculations, and prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Apply your management skills to lead a team of graduate engineers and technicians to deliver projects.

Other activities will include resolving design issues with proactive and innovative solutions, checking design work per Alliant's Design Quality Management Plan, and engaging in professional development activities to grow your client network. You will also assist with the preparation of work scopes, budgets, and schedules.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

• Strong working technical knowledge of engineering principles and practices
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment
• Technical expertise using Microstation and GEOPAK on transportation projects

The base salary for this position is expected to be in the range of $80,000 - $100,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
