The Professional Trainer will effectively assist in developing, coordinating, and facilitating education and training activities and supporting the new hire orientation and employee retention. Identify and monitor the training needs of John F Murphy (JFM) employees to increase employee engagement, learning, and development. Engage with adult learners through thoughtful interaction, and ensure training compliance with all JFM policies and procedures. Monitors internal training content to ensure the delivery of an impactful curriculum for our staff members. Help the Training Department enforce training deadlines, tracking attendance, and training completion.
What You'll Do:
- Teach Direct Support Professional (DSP), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and First Aid training courses.
- Instruct new hires and continuing education program-specific training.
- Facilitate students’ transition from training to the work environment, ensuring competency levels meet business needs.
- Adhere to developed classroom agenda/timelines and content flow.
- Help develop engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer.
- Process attendance and other course reports in a timely and accurate manner. Supports a culture of respect and safe space for culturally, socially, and ethnically diverse employees for authentically inclusive dialogues and sharing personal narratives and experiences.
- Utilize effective presentation and facilitation skills, including creative training methods and learning techniques using a variety of training delivery modalities in a live classroom environment
- Adapt instructional style as necessary and develop rapport with learners.
- Establish a good learning climate and foster learner motivation by making courses enjoyable, interpreting non-verbal messages, fostering competition and cooperation constructively, attending to the three major types of learning: visual, audio, kinesthetic, and facilitating lively discussion.
- Collaboratively provides ideas and feedback on new training programs and existing program enhancements under the management of senior department staff.
- Adapt presentation to include diverse learners, and use student experience as a learning tool.
- Inventory all materials and replenish them as necessary.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
JOB COMPONENTS:
- Management: Implements training programs and policy in accordance with applicable local, State, Federal laws and JFM standards.
- Confidentiality:Administration of the Training and Education program may involve contact with sensitive issues. All activity requires conducting business with strict adherence to confidentiality. Decorum and integrity characterize all phases of program contacts. Abides by HIPPA standards.
- Decision Making:Responsible for day-to-day program decisions relating to training and education.
- Contacts (internal and external):Interfaces with public and private organizations at meetings, seminars and training to acquire new and innovative practices in upgrade of services and practices. Attends meetings to communicate program initiatives and to promote and develop partnerships within JFM.
- Environment:Daily work activity is primarily conducted in an indoor office setting, with occasional travel to the program locations. Must be able to lift program materials weighing up to 25 pounds, stand for extended periods, bend and stoop.
- Equipment/Machines Used:Personal Computer, audio-visual and similar equipment are used regularly. Maintaining a good driving record , a reliable personal vehicle with evidence of insurance for occasional visits to agency homes and meetings.

- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in classroom instruction as a teacher or trainer required.
- Three years of experience working in the field of Developmental Disabilities required.
- Creative problem-solving skills to invent new ways to accommodate learning needs.
- High empathy skills and understanding of effective teaching methodologies and the willingness to keep abreast of new techniques in training.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and presentation design.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organization, planning, and process skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, adjust to constant changes, and handle multiple tasks.
- Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships.
- Familiarity with terms used in the social work arena and experience with DHHS / OADS agencies desired.

The anticipated hiring range for this position is$24.99-$37.49 per hour, depending on qualifications, experience, education, and other job-related factors. Eligible employees are also offered a comprehensive benefits package.
