Purpose

The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse and a member of the care delivery team. Responsible for setting standards of care, providing nursing care, and managing patient activities through independent judgment, communication, and collaboration. The role encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision. The nurse establishes collaborative relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, patients, and families to achieve optimal patient outcomes, demonstrating a commitment to the community and the nursing profession.

Responsibilities

Formulate daily goals, consider holistic patient needs, demonstrate critical thinking, and communicate effectively with care team members. • Demonstrate accountability for professional development, participate in shared governance, and support quality improvement efforts. Respond to team needs, participate in research, and use evidence-based practices to enhance care quality.

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care, assess patient data, and interpret information to meet individual needs. Minimum six months of experience required; BSN preferred. Ability to establish positive relationships, work effectively in complex environments, and demonstrate clinical judgment, critical thinking, mobility, and stamina is essential.

Licensure, Certifications, And Clearances

• UPMC approved national certification preferred.
• Current RN licensure in the state of employment or a compact state.
• CPR certification per AHA standards within 30 days of hire.
• Other clearances include Act 33, Act 34, and Act 73 FBI clearance with renewal.
