Purpose

The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse and a member of the care delivery team. Responsible for setting standards of care, providing nursing care, and managing patient activities through independent judgment, communication, and collaboration. The role encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision. The nurse establishes collaborative relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, patients, and families to achieve optimal patient outcomes, demonstrating a commitment to the community and the nursing profession.

  • $10,000 sign-on bonus for nurses with over one year of experience.
  • $7,000 sign-on bonus for Graduate Nurses and nurses with less than one year of experience.

Final candidates will be placed in a job title reflecting their education, experience, and discretion at the time of offer.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships, demonstrating accountability, enthusiasm, motivation, and commitment to patients and colleagues. Demonstrate cultural competence, maintain work-life balance, model safe work hours, and communicate safety hazards.
  • Apply adult learning principles in teaching patients, families, students, and staff. Provide detailed education to support patient care and transition. Support development of staff and students, possibly serving as a preceptor. Foster an environment of open dialogue and continuous improvement.
  • Use the nursing process within Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment. Formulate daily goals, consider holistic patient needs, demonstrate critical thinking, and communicate effectively with care team members. Document comprehensively to promote communication and incorporate organizational goals to improve safety, quality, and satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate accountability for professional development, participate in shared governance, and support quality improvement efforts. Respond to team needs, participate in research, and use evidence-based practices to enhance care quality.

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care, assess patient data, and interpret information to meet individual needs. Minimum six months of experience required; BSN preferred. Ability to establish positive relationships, work effectively in complex environments, and demonstrate clinical judgment, critical thinking, mobility, and stamina is essential.

Licensure, Certifications, And Clearances
  • UPMC approved national certification preferred.
  • Current RN licensure in the state of employment or a compact state.
  • CPR certification per AHA standards within 30 days of hire.
  • Other clearances include Act 33, Act 34, and Act 73 FBI clearance with renewal.
