Job Opening: Professional Staff Nurse - Emergency Department (Night Shift)

UPMC Wellsboro is seeking a full-time Professional Staff Nurse for the Emergency Department on the Night shift, from 7p-7a. The role requires working every other weekend and rotating holidays.

We are committed to supporting our nurses professionally, personally, and financially. Here’s how:

  • Sign-On Bonus of up to $15,000 (amount and eligibility based on role and experience)
  • Monthly Loan Repayment program for 2025 nursing graduates, offering $20,000 over three years (prorated for flex roles)
  • Up to five and a half weeks of Paid Time Off annually, plus seven paid holidays
  • New nursing career ladder to support career growth and reward experience and education
  • Tuition reimbursement of up to $6,000 per year, with discounts for employees, including no-cost RN-BSN/MSN options

Note: Final candidates will be assigned a job title within the career ladder that reflects their education, experience, and manager discretion at the time of offer.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and maintain productive relationships with patients, families, colleagues, and management. Demonstrate accountability, enthusiasm, motivation, and cultural sensitivity. Promote work-life balance, safe work hours, and report safety hazards.
  2. Apply adult learning principles in teaching patients, families, students, and new staff. Provide detailed education to support patient care and transition. Support development of staff and create an environment of open dialogue and continuous improvement.
  3. Use the nursing process within Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment. Formulate patient goals and care plans involving patients as partners. Demonstrate critical thinking and effective communication. Document comprehensively to promote team communication. Incorporate professional and organizational goals to enhance safety, quality, and satisfaction.
  4. Take accountability for professional growth and participate in shared governance, quality improvement, and change initiatives. Respond to team needs and support a positive practice environment.
  5. Engage in quality improvement activities, identify opportunities for enhancement, and utilize evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction.
