The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse and a member of the care delivery team. They are responsible for setting standards for quality care and managing patient care activities for a group of patients and their families. This role involves applying independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with team members, encompassing leadership, partnership, and supervision. The nurse establishes collaborative relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, patients, and families to achieve desired outcomes and demonstrates a commitment to the community and the nursing profession.

Responsibilities include:

1. Developing and maintaining productive relationships, demonstrating accountability, enthusiasm, and motivation, while respecting cultural differences and promoting healthy relationships.
2. Teaching patients, families, students, and new staff using adult learning principles, providing detailed guidance, and supporting development through preceptorship.
3. Applying the nursing process within Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment, formulating daily goals, and considering the holistic needs of patients.
4. Demonstrating accountability for professional development, participating in shared governance, and supporting quality improvement efforts.
