The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse responsible for setting standards of care, managing patient activities, and collaborating with healthcare team members. This role encompasses leadership, partnership, and supervision, establishing and maintaining relationships with physicians, patients, and families to achieve optimal outcomes and demonstrate a commitment to the community and the nursing profession.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and maintain productive relationships, demonstrate accountability, enthusiasm, and motivation, and communicate safety hazards.
  2. Apply adult learning principles to teach patients, families, students, and new staff, supporting their development and creating an environment of open dialogue and continuous improvement.
  3. Use the nursing process within Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment, formulate daily goals, and involve patients as partners, considering their holistic needs.
  4. Demonstrate accountability for professional development, participate in shared governance, and support quality improvement efforts to enhance patient care and practice environment.
  5. Participate in department quality initiatives, identify improvement opportunities, and utilize research to support clinical excellence and patient satisfaction.
