Job summary

Kong Inc. is seeking a Professional Services Manager to lead a team of Field Engineers and Engagement Managers across the US. This leadership role focuses on delivery outcomes, staffing, and people growth, shaping how Enterprise AI connectivity projects are deployed at scale.

You will own the full engagement lifecycle, coordinating with Solutions Architects, Sales, and Product teams to land well-scoped, high-quality implementations that meet go-live targets and customer expectations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in customer-facing engineering or equivalent.
• 2+ years directly managing a technical, customer-facing team.
• Delivery leadership in API gateways, API management, or distributed systems.
• Experience staffing, capacity, and prioritization across enterprise engagements.
• Strong Kubernetes and cloud-native infrastructure fluency.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a team of Field Engineers and Engagement Managers—hiring, coaching, career development, and performance management.
• Own delivery outcomes across your book of business: go-live dates, technical quality, and customer satisfaction.
• Staff the right Field Engineer and Engagement Manager to each engagement based on complexity and capacity.
• Be the senior escalation point on high-risk or high-complexity engagements.
• Run your team’s operating cadence: staffing reviews, at-risk reviews, 1:1s, reporting to leadership.
• Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Solutions Architecture to scope engagements and ensure smooth handoffs.
• Set and enforce delivery standards and reusable accelerators across engagements.
• Feed field learnings back to Product/Engineering to inform the roadmap.
