Professional Services Engineer II (2nd Shift - Evenings)

Department: Professional Services Engineering

Reports to: Manager of Professional Services

Department Growth Path: Professional Services Engineer III

Job Summary

The Professional Services Engineer II is responsible for maintaining on-premises and cloud applications, servers, storage, and network equipment for all levels of local and remote users in small to large-sized companies that employ a wide variety of software, hardware, and OS configurations. The ideal candidate is skilled at high-level root-cause analysis, able to work with minimal supervision, and possesses the ability to support infrastructure across various technologies.

Essential Functions
  1. Design, configure, deploy, and maintain applications, servers, storage, and network solutions, both on-premises and in the cloud.
  2. Perform troubleshooting, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
  3. Function as an escalation point for the Client Services/NOC team, providing support and resolution for Level I and Level II trouble tickets.
  4. Collaborate with engineers or software developers to select appropriate design solutions or ensure compatibility of system components.
  5. Create and update internal documentation.
  6. Communicate effectively with both technical staff and end-users, providing exceptional client service.
  7. Research and evaluate new hardware and software solutions.
  8. Identify viable solutions to complex problems in a timely manner.
  9. Develop scripts for automation, installation, configuration, and analysis.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, mathematics, or computer science, or equivalent combination of education and experience, including MSP experience.
  • Proficiency in:
    • VMware and Microsoft virtualization solutions
    • SAN, NAS, and backup vendor technologies (e.g., NetApp, Nimble, Pure Storage)
    • Server OS management and deployment
    • Microsoft Exchange (On-Premises and/or O365)
    • Microsoft Active Directory
    • DNS, DHCP, SMTP, firewalls, and load balancing
    • Systems monitoring software such as LogicMonitor
  • Advanced proficiency in systems administration or engineering.
  • Certifications in Cisco, VMware, AWS, Azure are preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in hardware and software.
  • Flexibility to support 24/7 operations.
  • Reliable transportation for travel to Atomic Data facilities and client sites as needed.
