Qualifications

• Completion of Pet Stylist Apprentice program or equivalent grooming training.
• High-school diploma or GED preferred.
• Willingness to work weekends, evenings and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts and styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning according to instructions and breed standards.
• Operate and maintain grooming instruments such as clippers, blades, shears, brushes and dryers.
• Prioritize safety and well-being of every animal in the salon and report concerns to owners and management.
• Evaluate coat type and skin conditions to tailor grooming approaches.
• Interact professionally with pet parents, provide grooming recommendations and resolve questions or concerns.
• Educate pet parents on grooming maintenance and at-home care practices and products.
• Maintain a clean and safe grooming area, disinfect tools, and perform routine salon cleaning tasks.
• Follow Petco grooming policies and guidelines to ensure safety and quality in all activities.
• Assist, train or supervise entry-level trainees when needed.
