Job summary

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. seeks a Senior RF/RAN Engineer to lead technical discussions on Samsung products and scheduler features with customer verticals, including 4G/5G RAN development and performance groups.

You will support product performance analysis and evaluate new releases, coordinating field integration testing (FOA/ICD) with customers, driving cross-functional teams to test plan execution and ensuring software acceptance.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in RAN optimization and integration.
• Experience generating RAN configuration files and scripts.
• Solid knowledge of LTE/5G air interfaces and protocol layers.
• Ability to read, interpret, and analyze technical journals and procedures.
• Familiarity with wireless network architecture concepts in the RAN domain.
• FOA testing of RF features and 5G/4G product/solution capabilities.
• Experience in Wireless/Cellular 4G-5G network performance management and troubleshooting.

Position Summary

Role and Responsibilities

Responsible for leading technical discussions on Samsung products/scheduler related features with several customer vertical organizations including 4G/5G RAN Development groups and RAN performance groups. Aid in product & feature performance analysis, evaluation of new product & SW releases and third-party product evaluation to build product synergies. Translate and communicate complex technical design considerations between the Samsung sales team and carriers' network business. Educate our customers on Samsung's new products and services both individually and in a team environment. Ensure that customer commitments are achieved according to plan. Accountable for leading field integration testing efforts (FOA/ICD) of all 4G/5G key features with customers, including test plan development, reviewing test plan with customers, driving cross-functional teams to execution, review of test results, issue identification, analysis and quality proofing until software acceptance is achieved. Accountable for analyzing and troubleshooting scheduler related issues reported from customer labs, field sites and production network. Review and provide recommendations to improve LTE/NR RAN network performance by evaluating and trending key KPIs, performing trials and providing optimization guidelines.

Skills and Qualifications

Applicants must have 5 years of experience in the following:

• (1) RAN Coverage optimization;
• (2) Deployment and Integration support through generating and creating RAN Configuration files and scripts;
• (3) LTE Air Interface, PHY, MAC, RLC, RRC and PDCP layers;
• (4) writing, reading, analyzing and interpreting technical journals and procedures;
• (5) wireless network architecture concepts including in the RAN domain;
• (6) FOA testing of the RF features, capability of the 5G/4G product/solution;
• (7) Wireless/Cellular 4G-5G Network Performance Management and Troubleshooting.

20% domestic travel required for new feature testing / commercial configuration and customer meetings.
