College Diversity Network offers an 8-week summer internship in Morristown, NJ, exposing students to Casualty & Specialty underwriting, claims, actuarial pricing, and negotiations. The program is hybrid (4 days onsite, 1 day remote) from June 2 to July 23, 2027, with a base hourly rate of $26 for Morristown, NJ.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in a relevant undergraduate program (Liberal Arts, Insurance & Risk Management, Economics, Business, Communications, Finance, Mathematics, Law or related).
• Minimum GPA 3.0 or higher.
• Sophomore standing with expected graduation between Dec 2028–May 2029.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excel proficiency preferred.

About This Internship

Arch’s 8-week summer internship program offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience in the insurance industry. It provides challenging learning experiences that serve as a foundation for interns to explore their career choices and to develop professional skills. Working alongside some of the most talented members of the specialty insurance industry, interns will gain relevant expertise in various aspects of the field, participate in learning activities and receive ongoing feedback.

About This Role

Gain exposure to all aspects of Casualty & Specialty underwriting, including claims, actuarial, finance, and contracts.
Participate in broker networking and team-building activities.
Receive extensive hands-on training from the Underwriting team, covering deal sourcing, analysis, underwriting decision-making, actuarial pricing, and negotiations.
Work on live deals and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Learn underwriting systems, processes, and account setup, along with key fundamentals of General Liability, Auto Liability, Umbrella, Workers Compensation, Environmental, and Specialty business.
Assist with research and provide information to the team, gaining an understanding of Casualty & Specialty underwriting.
Set and achieve goals, prioritize tasks, and stay accountable to stakeholders.
Collaborate with other interns on group activities and the end-of-program capstone project.

Qualifications

Actively completing area of study in Liberal Arts, Insurance & Risk Management, Economics, Business, Communications, Finance, Mathematics, Law or relevant program.
Minimum 3.0 GPA or higher.
College level - current sophomore student with expected graduation date between December 2028 – May 2029.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Microsoft Excel proficiency strongly preferred.

Self-starter who can work independently and deal effectively with multiple tasks/priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Location & Work Arrangement

The program dates are June 2 – July 23, 2027.
This position is classified as a hybrid position. You will work 4 days onsite and 1 day from home.
This position is in Morristown, NJ.
Relocation and housing assistance is not provided for this role.

Pay

For individuals assigned to or hired to work in Morristown, NJ, the hourly rate is $26 as of the time of posting. The breadth in the range exists to accommodate students in specialized programs such as actuarial candidates and graduate students. Any actual rate offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, along with the education & qualifications of the candidate. The above range may be modified in the future. Intern position is eligible for select Arch benefits.
