Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in youth development, event planning, or marketing.
  • Ability to work at least five Saturdays per year and travel statewide as needed.
  • Access to a vehicle or transportation for traveling statewide.
  • Maintain a valid Utah Driver's License and motor vehicle insurance.
  • Strong technical proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and project management software.
  • Availability to potentially work overtime leading into events.

Responsibilities

  • Manage event logistics, including registration, workshop scheduling, vendor relationships, and volunteer coordination.
  • Develop marketing materials, website updates, and email blasts to promote professional development opportunities.
  • Coordinate with presenters and exhibitors to ensure successful event execution and build-outs on online platforms.
  • Collect and analyze survey data to measure the impact of events and inform future planning.
  • Administer the Afterschool Professional Development Incentive by processing applications and curating approved training lists.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Child Care to review and support School-Age Credential applicants.
  • Support the administration and maintenance of participant records, certifications, and completion tracking for eLearning programs, conferences, trainings, and professional development events.
  • Utilize project management tools (Asana) to track tasks, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met for the Professional Development Team.
  • Proactively troubleshoot issues and propose solutions to the PLS Director.

Description

Under the direction of the Executive Director, Director of Operations, and Professional Learning Systems Director, the Professional Learning Systems (PLS) Coordinator plays a key role in implementing UAN's virtual and in‑person professional learning initiatives. The UAN PLS includes an annual conference, regional trainings, the eLearning Institute, and topical events tailored to the afterschool field. This position impacts approximately 3,500 professionals who serve 52,000 youth across Utah annually.


The PLS Coordinator works collaboratively with the team to ensure high‑quality implementation of all UAN events. Responsibilities include leading or participating in planning meetings, managing event logistics, and communicating with partners, presenters, and volunteers. Additionally, the Coordinator fosters relationships with the Utah State Board of Education and the Department of Workforce Services Office of Child Care. The Coordinator reports to the PLS Director with additional support from the Executive Director.


Summary Of Essential Job Functions

General UAN Duties


  • Provide additional organizational support as needed (e.g., communications, marketing, website updates).

  • Maintain all appropriate budgetary documentation regarding travel and other work‑related expenses.

  • Participate in organizational strategic planning meetings.


Requirements | Education | Experience


  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

  • Minimum of three years of experience in youth development, event planning, or marketing.

  • Ability to work at least five Saturdays per year and travel statewide as needed.

  • Access to a vehicle or transportation for traveling statewide.

  • Maintain a valid Utah Driver's License and motor vehicle insurance.

  • Strong technical proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and project management software.

  • Availability to potentially work overtime (with overtime compensation, time and a half) leading into events, typically one to two weeks before an event.

  • Proficient in Google and Microsoft Office Suites; experience preferred with online/website software (Qualtrics, Adobe, Joomla, Asana, Canva, etc.).

  • Superior interpersonal, organizational, and communication (verbal and written) skills.

  • Adaptability and ability to reflect and accept constructive feedback.
