Job summary

Ayres Associates is seeking a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to join our Madison, Wisconsin team. This role focuses on design surveys for transportation, municipal, utility, and site development projects, with opportunities to provide technical leadership and mentor staff.

The position is primarily office-based with occasional field support; you will develop and review deliverables using survey software and CADD, collaborate with project managers and crews, and contribute to project delivery

Qualifications

• 5+ years of land surveying experience across transportation, utility, municipal, and site development projects.
• Wisconsin Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license or ability to obtain within six months.
• Experience using survey equipment, software, and CADD platforms to support project delivery.

Responsibilities

Ayres Associates is seeking a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to join our growing team in Madison, Wisconsin. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of transportation, municipal, utility, and land development projects while providing technical leadership, mentoring staff, and supporting project delivery.

This role is primarily office-based, with opportunities to provide field support as needed. It is ideal for a survey professional who enjoys balancing technical expertise, project coordination, and collaboration within a high-performing team environment.

What You'll Do

• Perform surveying, mapping, and project-related tasks.
• Develop and review deliverables using survey software and CADD platforms.
• Collaborate with project managers, crew chiefs, technicians, and fellow survey professionals.
• Prepare and review survey documents and project deliverables.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
• Support safety initiatives and occasional field assignments.

What We're Looking For

• Associate degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field, or a bachelor's degree in Land Surveying.
• 5+ years of land surveying experience within the following survey services:
  • Design surveys, including transportation, utility, municipal, and site development.
  • Geospatial control and LiDAR QA/QC.
  • Construction layout for transportation, utility, building, and municipal projects.
  • Land surveys, including ALTA and WisDOT right-of-way plats.
  • Wisconsin Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license or ability to obtain licensure within six months.
  • Experience using survey equipment, software, and CADD platforms to support project delivery and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
