H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural/engineering/environmental consulting firm, seeks a Professional Land Surveyor. The successful candidate will be responsible for selecting and applying standard surveying techniques in the field and office to plan, organize, and execute land surveying projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Receive instructions on specific assignments, objectives, and complex features.
  • Perform a variety of in-office and field tasks associated with land surveying projects obtained by the company.
  • Have a broad understanding and experience in operating surveying equipment, such as Total Stations, Data Collectors, GPS RTK & Static Observations.
  • Accurately calculate and record field data.
  • Review job specifications and plan fieldwork methods and costs.
  • Apply standard scientific/engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations of standard methods and techniques in the field and office.
  • Review and download field data.
  • Prepare field notes and draw sketches of existing site conditions.
  • Prepare detailed daily job reports and discuss projects with the supervisor on a daily basis.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot complex instrumentation.
  • Draft and edit surveys using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Perform other like duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Professional Land Surveyor License Required (State of NJ).
  • Substantial survey experience and strong knowledge of survey calculations, techniques, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment when making decisions.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Ability to stand, climb, and walk continuously during an 8-hour period.
  • Ability to perform strenuous work in varying climates (heat and cold, etc).
  • Good computer skills and ability to learn survey-related software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD.

The salary range for this role is $80,000 - $100,000 annually.

The employment offer may deviate from this published range based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, specialty, knowledge, education, geography, and/or related certifications – not related to any applicant’s characteristics protected by local, state, or federal law.

Note: The salary or hourly rate indicated does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.
