Job summary

TKDA is seeking a Professional Electrical Engineer to join our Rail team in Seattle, WA. In this role, you'll lead electrical engineering efforts, focusing on sustainable designs for power systems and lighting. Your collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team will support critical infrastructure projects across Class I Railroads and Mass Transit systems.

Our multi‑disciplined team of engineering and design professionals is looking for a Professional Electrical Engineer with extensive experience in building and industrial power, lighting, and signal system design to join our Rail team in Seattle, WA.

What You’ll Do

As part of our Rail Electrical team, you’ll collaborate with experts across Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Structural, and Architecture disciplines to deliver innovative solutions for Class I Railroads and Mass Transit organizations nationwide. From new facilities to major renovations, your work will help keep critical infrastructure moving.

In this role, you’ll:
  • Lead electrical engineering efforts from concept through construction – creating safe, reliable, and sustainable designs that meet client needs.
  • Design power systems, including industrial and commercial applications, generators, and EV charging infrastructure.
  • Develop interior and exterior lighting designs, site power plans, one‑lines, panelboard schedules, conduits/cable layouts, and detailed construction drawings.
  • Support construction administration by responding to contractor RFIs, reviewing submittals, and performing site observations to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Washington or the ability to obtain registration within twelve to eighteen months of employment.
  • Minimum of four years of progressive experience in power, lighting, and signal system design for commercial and industrial facilities.
  • Previous experience with basic layout and design of electrical distribution equipment including panel boards, transformers, lighting, fire alarm, security, and data.
