THE POSITION

The Professional Conduct Investigator 1 position with the Bureau of Enforcement and Investigation offers an exciting chance to support fair and responsible practices across the Commonwealth. This role gives you the opportunity to build strong investigative skills while helping protect the public. You will work with a variety of agencies and gain valuable experience in the field.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on investigating complaints, reviewing compliance, and supporting statewide enforcement activities. As a Professional Conduct Investigator 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Conduct Investigations: Examine allegations involving violations of laws, rules, and regulations
  • Perform Inspections: Inspect sites to determine compliance and document findings through clear reports
  • Gather Evidence: Collect information through interviews, observations, and detailed fact gathering
  • Apply Regulations: Interpret and apply laws and standards to each investigation
  • Prepare Reports: Write complete and accurate reports that explain investigative findings
  • Support Hearings: Appear as a witness during hearings and provide testimony on case findings

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time at the discretion of the program area and supervisors based on operational needs. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Scranton. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years as a Regulatory Enforcement Inspector (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Five years of investigative experience; or
  • One year of investigative experience and a bachelor's degree; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that included one year of investigative experience.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires possession of a valid Class C Driver's License.
