Job description

The Bureau of Enforcement and Investigation (BEI) is looking for an individual to join a team of professional conduct investigators. BEI conducts investigations into allegations of violations of standards of conduct, laws, rules, and regulations for 29 licensing boards and commissions.

This role empowers you to protect communities across the Commonwealth through meaningful investigative work. You will grow your skills while contributing to public trust and confidence. This position offers a rewarding path for individuals who want to make a positive impact.

This position focuses on carrying out investigations and inspections that uphold state laws, rules, and regulations. You will help ensure compliance across multiple bureaus and commissions. As a Professional Conduct Investigator 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Investigation Work: Conduct investigations into allegations of violations of standards, laws, rules, and regulations
  • Inspection Duties: Perform inspections to determine compliance with rules, laws, and regulations across assigned areas
  • Evidence Gathering: Collect facts, interview persons, review complaints, and organize findings into clear reports
  • Confidential Handling: Maintain confidentiality for interview subjects, evidence locations, and sensitive information
  • Regulatory Application: Read and properly apply laws, rules, and regulations relevant to state boards and commissions
  • Hearing Participation: Testify in formal or informal hearings and appear as a witness in judicial proceedings

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time at the discretion of the program area and supervisors based on operational needs. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years as a Regulatory Enforcement Inspector; or
  • Five years of investigative experience; or
  • One year of investigative experience and a bachelor's degree; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that included one year of investigative experience.
Other Requirements
  • This particular position also requires possession of a valid Class C Driver's License.
