Job summary

Aspire Rural Health System is hiring a Professional Billing Specialist in Cass City, MI. This full-time role focuses on timely patient billing within the Patient Financial Services Department, ensuring accurate UB-04/1500 claims and efficient denial resolution.

We seek candidates with hospital/physician billing experience or billing certificates, strong Excel/Word skills, and knowledge of coding and revenue codes. The position offers full benefits and a standard daytime schedule.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of hospital and/or physician billing or a billing certificate/ associate degree.
• Knowledge in UB-04, 1500 billing, CPT Coding, HCPC Coding, ICD-10 Coding and Revenue Coding, Data Processing, Accounts Receivable Collections, Excel, Word, and other office equipment

Responsibilities

• Responsible for timely and accurate billing of all patient/customer accounts.
• Ensure accurate and complete information appears on UB 04 and 1500 claims and the electronic billing system.
• Research and resolve open accounts thoroughly and accurately.
• Submit appeal letters to insurance companies, follow up on unpaid or incorrectly paid claims, patient phone calls, and correspondence.
• Prepares accurate account payments and adjustments when indicated on the patient/customer account file.
• Understand the Rev Codes, CPT, HCPC, and ICD-10 Codes.
