Production Worker - Utility 1 2nd Shift (6pm-6am)

Your Opportunity as Utility 1 – Production 2nd shift

As a part of the Production Team, you are responsible for several bakery manufacturing activities. As a utility 1 worker, you must be able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, communicate and work effectively in a team structure, and be flexible in work assignments within the utility category. The assignments are as follows: Pan Setter, Feeder, Packer/Carton, Packer/Cases, Shipping Stacker, Handler, Sanitor, Receiver, Palletizer. You must be able to follow both written and verbal instructions, safely and accurately complete assigned duties, and maintain GMP standards. You will be a part of the Food Defense Team.

Location: Indianapolis, IN - Manufacturing Plant

Work Arrangements: 100% on-site

Compensation Base Rate: $20.32/ hour with an additional .25 differential, 6pm-6am

In this Role You Will:
  1. Work as a helper on one production line in various roles (i.e., Helper, Indexer, Feeder, Packer, Catcher, etc.).
  2. Perform various assigned manual labor tasks to grasp, lift, move, place, and stack items relating to the production processes assigned.
  3. Feed, catch and monitor continuously on one production line.
  4. Visually inspect product for quality and quantity.
  5. Support quality control programs to ensure production procedures follow best practices of food safety and quality standards.
  6. Report all equipment issues to the supervisor or manager as soon as possible.
  7. Understand and comply with all safety procedures that apply to daily operations.
  8. Work safely; follow proper lock out/tag out procedure where applicable.
  9. Maintain a safe and clean environment by adhering to safety policy and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) procedures.
  10. Assist with cleaning and sanitation of equipment and environment pre- and post-production.
  11. Maintain excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards guests, customers, clients, coworkers, etc.
  12. Adhere to safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation.
  13. May perform other duties not listed.

What We are Looking For:
Minimum Requirements:
  1. Ability to work night shift.
  2. High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role:
  1. Previous safety training preferred.
  2. Prior food industry experience a plus.
  3. Familiarity with bakery equipment preferred.
  4. Excellent communication skills.
Tools and Equipment:

All tools and equipment which are required to be used by the employees shall be supplied and kept in repair by the Employer at no cost to the employee. These items must be kept on the premises.

Work Environment

This job operates in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment and manufacturing sites can be loud.

Physical Demands
  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  2. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  3. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  4. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  5. May push and pull trash carts weighing up to 500lb, dough carts weighing up to 800lb, portable equipment and catch pans weighing up to 500lb.
  6. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
