Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. in Dover, New Jersey is seeking a FPI Inspector for the midnight shift (Sunday night through Thursday night, 10:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.).

The role inspects investment-cast turbine airfoils and related components using penetrant and black light to identify surface defects. Training on day shift is provided.   • Must be able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) in English.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to pass Level 1 and Level 2 exam.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect castings using penetrant inspection and black light to detect surface defects.
  • Maintain clean, orderly and safe work area and equipment.
  • Mark failures and categorize castings into acceptable, rework or scrap.
  • Highlight abnormal indications to supervision and assist with dispatching.

Howmet Aerospace is currently looking for a FPI Inspector to join our Howmet Casting located in Dover, New Jersey. The work hours for this Midnight Shift position are Sunday Night - Thursday Night 10:30 p - 6:30 a. Training on day shift.

Anticipated Pay Range: $28.00 – $31.00 per hour. Pay rates within this range are determined based on various factors including experience, education, certifications, etc.

Position will receive an hourly "shift premium" while assigned to an off‑shift.

Job Summary

The FPI Inspector is responsible for inspecting castings for defects using a penetrant and black light booth.

Environmental Health & Safety Responsibilities
  • Expected to assist in the implementation of Howmet Aerospace's EHS value and policy statement and its accompanying principles.
  • Comply with all department, facility, Corporate and Regulatory EH&S regulations.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Report all job‑related illness and injuries. (Per employee handbook).
  • Report all Safety, Health & Environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Attend all EH&S training.
Job Responsibilities
  • Process Casting using Penetrant in order to prepare casting for inspection.
  • Inspect castings under black and white light in accordance with predetermined standards for purposes of detecting surface defects.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
  • Mark failures and separate castings into acceptable, failure, and rework categories.
  • Highlight abnormal indications to supervision.
  • Assist with dispatching when required.
  • Complete paperwork as assigned by supervisor or job standards.
  • Must be able to pass Level 1 and Level 2 exam.

  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Candidates residing within a 50‑mile radius of Dover, NJ will only be considered.

Physical Demands / Equipment Used
  • This job requires frequent sitting and standing, lifting up to 25 pounds and working in a dark environment.
  • Equipment used: spray guns, black lights, ovens, wash machines, developer cabinet.
