Production Shop Manager Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced manager to oversee the manufacturing and installation processes of our custom closet and cabinetry products. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the production runs smoothly, efficiently, and meets the high standards of quality our customers expect. This role requires strong leadership, excellent organizational skills, and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities:
Production Planning & Scheduling:
  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer orders and deadlines.
  • Coordinate with the design and senior managements to ensure accurate production timelines.
  • Adjust production schedules as needed to accommodate rush orders or unexpected delays.

Team Leadership & Management:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the production team, including working with installers, and other internal staff members.
  • Conduct regular training sessions to ensure staff are skilled and up to date with the latest techniques and safety protocols.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment, encouraging teamwork and communication.

Quality Control:
  • Oversee all stages of production to ensure products meet company standards and customer specifications.
  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures, conducting regular inspections and addressing any issues promptly.
  • Work closely with the design team to troubleshoot and resolve any design or production issues.

Inventory & Materials Management:
  • Managed inventory levels and finished products, ensuring supplies are ordered and stocked.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best pricing.
  • Implement systems to track and reduce waste.

Process Improvement:
  • Continuously evaluate and improve production processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and integrated new technologies and methods where applicable.
  • Led initiatives to implement lean manufacturing practices.

Health & Safety:
  • Ensure the production area complies with all health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and audits, addressing any hazards immediately.
  • Promote a culture of safety among all employees.
  • Work with owner and ensuring required shop maintenance and repairs are performed correctly.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production management role, preferably in the closet, cabinetry or manufacturing industry.
  • Proven track record of managing production teams and achieving operational excellence.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, quality control, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in production management software, Closet Pro, Allmoxy, Web-Cab and Cutrite a plus.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a manufacturing environment.
