Job summary

Atterro is hiring a Production Test Technician in Avon, CT. This hands-on role tests specialty optical fiber products, operates advanced measurement equipment, and ensures production protocols are followed to maintain quality and traceability.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a similar manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and understand complex manufacturing drawings and process layouts.
  • Strong quality mindset and ability to identify potential defects or process issues.
  • Experience with test and measurement equipment preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Toyota Production System concepts preferred.
  • Familiarity with Material Flow, Shop Floor Control, and ISO requirements preferred.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform production testing of specialty optical fiber and cable according to established test methods and procedures.
  • Operate advanced test and measurement equipment to evaluate product performance.
  • Follow manufacturing drawings, prints, recipes, process layouts, and established workmanship standards.
  • Work closely with Test & Reliability Engineering and provide support as needed.
  • Monitor production test processes, equipment condition, and overall process flow.
  • Identify and communicate equipment or process issues that could impact production or quality.
  • Enter test results and key measurement data into manufacturing databases to maintain product traceability.
  • Communicate product performance information to Production and Engineering teams.
  • Report daily production status using established visual controls.
  • Confirm in-process quality meets established workmanship and customer requirements.
  • Exercise sound judgment and stop production when necessary to prevent poor-quality product from reaching the customer.
  • Maintain daily audits, checklists, and visual controls to support process sustainability.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, waste reduction, ergonomics, and efficiency.
  • Participate in Lean manufacturing events and cost‑saving projects using structured problem‑solving approaches.
  • Utilize Lean tools such as A3, standard work, layered audits, visual controls, FMEA, 6S, and SPC.
  • Support other production processes and departments based on business needs.
