Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. in Covina, CA is seeking a Production Technician – Assembly on 2nd shift to fabricate, assemble and repair aerospace components using precision tools. You will read blueprints, lay out materials, cut, trim, drill, and verify dimensions. Requires 2–4 years in manufacturing and a High School diploma.

We offer 80 hours PTO, 10 holidays, medical/dental/vision insurance and a 401(k) plan. Eligible for quarterly bonus; must be a US Person.

Responsibilities

  • Safely follow safety rules and provide recommendations to improve safety.
  • Meet production and quality standards to achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Fabricate, assemble, rework, and repair products per Master Work Instructions using tools and equipment.
  • Read work orders and documentation to determine methods and specifications.
  • Layout cutting lines on plastic materials per templates, blueprints or samples.
  • Cut material to size using hand and power tools.
  • Trim, drill, ream, countersink, grind, and finish parts to spec.
  • Repair and rework damaged parts per instructions.
  • Assemble parts and attach hardware using clamps and fixtures.
  • Verify dimensions with dial indicators, micrometers and calipers.

Position: Production Technician – Assembly (M-F 2nd Shift - 2:00pm - 10:30pm)

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Passionately works in a safe manner by following all safety rules,and providing recommendations to help make CHI a safe work environment.
  • Achieves team production goals by working to meet all operational and quality standards to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Fabricates, assembles, reworks, and repairs products per the Master Work Instructions (MWI), by utilizing precision instruments, hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment as instructed.
  • Reads work orders and related documentation to determine methods and sequence of operations and dimensional and finish specifications.
  • Lays out cutting lines on plastic materials, such as sheet stock and fiberglass or graphite cloth, following template pattern, blueprints, sketches, or sample part, using measuring and marking instruments.
  • Cuts material to size, using shears, knives, cutters, scissors, router, or saw.
  • Trims, drills, reams, countersinks, grinds, and finishes parts to specification, using templates, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Repairs and reworks damaged or defective parts and assemblies by layup, foaming, cementing, molding, potting, casting or similar methods per Master Work Instructions.
  • Fits and assembles parts and attaches hardware and fittings, such as brackets and hinges, using clamps, jigs, fixtures, power tools, and fasteners.
  • Verifies dimensions of parts, using precision instruments, such as dial indicators, micrometers, and calipers.
Experience and Education
  • Manufacturing experience 2-4 years
  • Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent GED
  • Must be a US Person
Requirements
  • Ability to safely lift up to 35lbs. and have good hand dexterity. This position requires significant walking, bending and standing.
  • Ability to bring your best self every day to safely meet and exceed production and quality standards.
  • Shop Math: Understanding of basic math calculations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings.
  • Excellent communication skills, including fluency of the English language (written and verbal).

  • For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $22.00 to $26.00 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors.
  • For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter .
  • Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year.
  • Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays.
  • Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance.
  • Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
