Job summary

Burke Aerospace in Greenville, SC is seeking a Production Technician to support machinists and CNC/EDM operators. You will prepare materials, tooling, fixtures, and handle loading/unloading tasks to sustain workflow and machine uptime.

You will perform basic machine operations, carry out secondary operations, and assist with in-process inspections and paperwork. The role requires attention to safety and continuous improvement participation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred.
  • Experience working in a machine shop or production environment preferred.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing drawings, work instructions, and measurement tools preferred.
  • Strong listening and communication skills; verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to safely lift materials and stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supports machinists and CNC/EDM operators with daily production activities to maintain workflow and machine uptime.
  • Prepares materials, tooling, fixtures, and related equipment for production operations.
  • Loads and unloads parts and materials from machines and workstations as required.
  • Performs basic machine operation tasks where programs, fixtures, and methods have been established.
  • Performs deburring, cleaning, marking, packaging, and other secondary operations as required.
  • Assists with in-process inspections using basic measuring equipment and verifies part conformity to work order and blueprint requirements.
  • Responsible for accurately completing paperwork relating to counts, scrap, time, inspections, and material movement.
  • Maintains area, equipment, tooling, and workstations in a neat and orderly condition, including completion of operator maintenance sheets.
  • Assists with inventory organization, material staging, and movement of product throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Communicates production, quality, or equipment concerns to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates a proactive approach to supporting process improvements and resolving production-related issues in coordination with team members and other departments.
  • Supports Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Complies with OSHA, health, safety, and environmental requirements always.
  • Trains, guides, and assists other employees as required.

Summary

Requirements
Qualifications

  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and Manufacturing ERP systems (Job Boss preferred).
  • Ability to safely lift materials and stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements

Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

The worker may be required to move, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and/or complete repetitive motions during course of work.

Visual Requirements

The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arms reach; performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as ones by carpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc.

Environmental Conditions

The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.

The worker is subject to vibration: Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.

The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.

The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.

The worker is subject to oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
